Dear Covenant
Family,
Pastor Steve and Jada Conner
will celebrate their last Sunday at Covenant on May 18,
2008. In honor and recognition of their seven years at
Covenant, we are planning a celebration event after the
11:00 service on May 18. In addition to the
celebration, there are a number of activities involved
in celebrating their ministry. Those opportunities are
listed on the attached. Please read the attached and
plan to participate in a way that is meaningful to you.
Opportunities to honor Steve
and Jada include:
A special booth will be set up
in Fellowship Hall on May 4 and May 11 to provide
information, to accept “love offerings”, to RSVP for the
banquet and to receive “memory cards” and family
photos. Recording testimonials on DVD will also be done
on those days. Visit the booth to learn the location of
the recording.
In Christ,
The Celebration Committee

Before the Service on May 18
-
Those who would like to financially contribute to
a “love offering” may do so by sending a check to
Lisa Rabadeau’s attention with a note indicating the
check if for Steve and Jada’s love offering. You
may also place a check in the offering plate on
May 4 or May 11. Please make the checks
payable to "Covenant UMC" and mark the envelope with
“love offering” so Lisa knows how to apply the
payment. Note: these contributions are not tax
deductible.
-
We will be recording testimonials and tributes to
Steve and Jada between services on Sunday, May 4
and May 18 from 9am until 11am. The room
location will be announced at each service on May
4. We encourage all members of your family to
deliver a special message to Steve and Jada.
-
“Memory” cards are being provided for individuals
and families to write a special message. You may
want to use this opportunity to thank Steve or Jada
for visiting you while in the hospital, Baptizing
your child, praying with you during a difficult
time, or any other significantly emotional event in
which Steve or Jada participated. If you can, we
would like for you to attach a photo of yourself or
your family and drop the card and photo at the
designated booth in Fellowship Hall on May 4
or May 11. The memory cards and photos will
be put in a scrapbook of memories.
For
those of you who are electronically savvy, the “memory”
cards will also be available on the Covenant website.
We encourage you to
download
the card (.pdf file)
and email it to Sharon Harris (jsharrisiu@aol.com)
so she may start on the scrapbook at the earliest
possible time. Your photos may be dropped off in
Fellowship Hall on May 4 or May 11.
During
the Service
-
During each service, the congregation will be
invited to lay hands on Steve and Jada at the
conclusion of the service as a prayer of
thanksgiving is offered by Pastor Jan Funk and/or
Pastor Harold Oechsle.
After
the Service
-
Following the 11:00 a.m. service, a banquet will
be held in Fellowship Hall.
-
The meat will be provided by the committee.
-
Families attending are asked to bring a side dish
to share. A sign-up for the carry-in will be
available in Fellowship Hall beginning on Sunday,
May 4.
-
RSVPs are greatly appreciated.
If you are planning to attend the banquet, please
sign up at the designated booth in Fellowship Hall
on Sunday mornings.
If you are unable to sign up in Fellowship Hall,
please RSVP to the church office at 489-1888.
-
After the meal, we will give Steve and Jada a
“love offering” and a scrapbook of memories. We will
also provide a DVD of testimonials from those who
choose to participate. (See above.)
-
During the program, there will be an open
microphone. Please feel free to publicly thank and
honor Steve and Jada for their dedication and
service to Covenant Church.
